Cruise ship stops by in Port Hedland

Occasionally a cruise ship will stop by to re-fuel in our port. If they can bear the heat, busloads of tourists visit the nearby shopping centre and markets selling locally made crafts and souvenirs (open just for the event). I’ve seen these in town before, but it still amazes me how big the cruise ships are, eclipsing the horizon of our small town centre.

Recovery smoothie

Followed a recipe a saw on Channel 10’s Living Room for breakfast this morning. It contains blueberries, banana, coconut water, goji berries and chia seeds. And it was delicious. I might start making these as part of my daily breakfast routine. Though I would recommend putting twice as many chia seeds as the recipe, which can be found here.

On a side note, happy Halloween! We had loads of trick-or-treaters visit us. I would have loved to post photos of their costumes, some of which looked like they were a fair bit of work. But there were no parents around to ask permission to take their photo.

I painted that for you

Today was a really long 11-hour day at work. I don’t know how the FIFO workers do 12-hour shifts everyday. My head was buzzing (mixture of lack of sleep, stress and frustration) and I came home rather tired and grumpy. I got home at 6pm just in time to shoot the pink and purple haze of the sky over our house as the sun was about to set. It reminded me of a story a friend once told me, where he was driving while sad and down about something. When he made a turn, he saw a beautiful sky and in that moment God’s voice spoke into his heart and said ‘I painted that for you’. I think God is telling me the same thing today.

What’s for dinner?

What’s for dinner tonight? I’m lucky to have a husband that shares the load when it comes to jobs around the house. And cooking is one of them, though he usually only does so using the Thermomix. I have more input in the shopping list though, but Gabe knows when there’s beef and spring onion in the fridge, it’s time for him to make Beef Noodle!
